Fugue for Edgar Allan Poe
Nov. 29-30, 2012 — Electric Lodge
After the success of the Max 10 preview of Ella Martin's latest piece, Electric Lodge Artistic Director Joel Shapiro invited Theatre Mab back for a full performance.
A series of tales, past, present, and future, entwine to tell the story of young Poe and his struggle to overcome poverty and family resistance to his passion: writing. Modern day students and future composers wander through the scenes as each character asks, "Who is Poe, and what is his significance?" Culminating in a movement- and chant-based ensemble recitation of Poe's The Raven, Fugue for Edgar Allan Poe is an engaging and provocative tidbit for the theatre-going intelligentsia.
Featuring: Doug Oliphant, Will Reinbold, Arthur Keng, Amy Greenspan, Liz Eldridge
